The World’s Hottest Hatch 2022 VW Golf GTI

Everyone needs to calm down. Fears that Volkswagen would annihilate the entire Golf lineup are all, but a myth, with the 2022 Golf GTI set to begin an all-new generation of the sporty hatchback.

The Golf family will continue to serve as the pinnacle of the Volkswagens lineup. You will still find Golf versions of a kind, including a sedan version (Jetta) and compact crossovers (Tiguan).
The VW Golf GTI is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that has 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. That power is transferred to the front wheels through a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. As a result, we got the Golf GTI to deliver 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds– 0.7 quicker than the last generation.
The Golf GTI has some serious competition, the Honda Civic Type R and the Hyundai Veloster n. The choice is yours, and it’s subjective at best. The pricing will help. We have the GTI starting at $29,945, the Type R, at $37,895, and the Veloster clocking in at $32,500. If you need to read that again, I will wait for you to absorb that.

Although it appears the German automaker will still stop selling regular (read: boring) Golfs in the United States, the GTI and the even zestier R model, which we review separately, have been spared. The result is a more powerful GTI with even more desirable features and the same characteristics that helped the outgoing version earn a spot on ours and many others’ 10 Best lists. With more modern styling inside and out and the familiar fantastic, turbocharged powertrain under the hood, this pint-sized performance car truly has everything you could want.
