Run to the Sun — Acura TL

NWAPA

Imagine driving a very cool new car for a distance between 9 to 25 miles, getting out and then into another very cool car for another 9 to 25 mile leg and then repeating the same routine through 23 cars in a two day period.

Welcome to the 2010 NWAPA (Northwest Automotive Press Association) Run to the Sun held recently in western Washington.? After 23 cars and more than 450 miles of smiles, here are our quick impressions of the Acura TL SH-AWD.

With about 95 percent of the Acura TL buyers ordering the automatic transmission, we?re not quite sure why Acura bothered to offer a six-speed manual transmission for the TL sedan.? However, the manual transmission is about as nice as they get ? smooth, positive and intuitive, and it certainly makes it a beautiful driving car.? The Super Handling-All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) that Acura added in 2009 makes the TL a much better competitor for cars like the Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Infiniti.? The SH-AWD was the first all-wheel drive system to transfer torque from side to side in addition to front to rear.? A 305-hp, 3.7-liter V-6 engine powers the TL to a quick 5.6-second 0 to 60 mph time.? Pricing starts at $35,965 and tops out at $44,245.? We especially like the way Acura sets pricing with virtually no options other than a navigation system and color.
