More Power, Performance
With the introduction of the Urus a few years ago, Lamborghini joined a growing number of high-performance and luxury car companies adding SUVs to their lineups. Referred to as a Super SUV (like Super Car), the Urus is every bit a Lamborghini, from bold styling to extreme performance. Now the Italian car company ups its SUV ante with the first Lamborghini Urus Performante, which offers more power and a new level of performance.
Setting the Bar Even Higher
“The Urus Performante takes the supreme performance and distinctive looks of Lamborghini’s ground-breaking Super SUV to the next level, retaining its luxurious versatility and delivering the most engaging driving experience,” said Lamborghini Chairman and CEO Stephan Winkelmann. “The Urus set a new standard at its launch, taking Lamborghini’s design DNA and technological talent and delivering the world’s first Super SUV for a new era: the Urus Performante sets the bar even higher for the SUV segment,” claimed Winkelmann.
Updated Looks
The new Performante variant takes the bold styling of the Urus and morphs it into a more aggressive look. Standing apart from the standard Urus, the Performante features vents in the carbon-fiber hood, a new front bumper and splitter — also in carbon fiber — as well as a new front air intake for improved engine cooling.
Lower and Wider
The Performante sits lower than the standard-issue Urus, and this new edition also has a wider track that complements the SUV’s high-performance styling and capability. Larger carbon fiber wheel arches fit nicely around standard 22-inch (or optional 23-inch) forged lightweight wheels.
Improved Aerodynamics
Not only is the Urus Performante more powerful than the standard model, it features improved aerodynamics that further increase overall performance. Air flows smoothly over the wheels thanks to a new air curtain. The air outlets in the hood improve aerodynamic efficiency while simultaneously providing more cooling for the more powerful engine. A new rear spoiler for the Urus Performante increases downforce by an impressive 38 percent. Lamborghini claims the Urus Performante uses more carbon fiber components than any other model in the performance SUV segment.
Inner Space
The Performante updates the Urus interior as well, featuring Nero Cosmus black Alcantara trim and a new hexagonal seat stitching design. The exterior color is also used as a trim on the doors, roof and seat backrests, with additional personalization accomplished through Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program including matte carbon fiber trim, red door handles and a customized kickplate.
More Power
The Urus is already immensely powerful, and the new Performante kicks that muscle up a notch with an increase to 657 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque from its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. Combined with a reduction in weight of more than 100 pounds, performance is noticeably improved. The Urus Performante can sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a mere 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph.
Improved Handling
For Lamborghini the driving experience relates to more than simple straight-line speed, so the Urus Performante improves overall handling as well. The SUV’s front-wheel steering has been recalibrated for more precise input and better feedback. Rear-wheel steering reacts faster for better agility, further improved with torque vectoring from the rear differential.
Rally Mode
Like the standard Urus, the Performante features multiple drive modes: Strada, Sport and Corsa. These modes let the driver create a customized experience behind the wheel. Going one better, the Performante adds Rally mode, which should increase the SUV’s fun factor immensely. Designed for use on dirt tracks and off-roading, Rally mode permits more oversteer, suspension and springs optimized for rougher surfaces.
Pike’s Peak Record Run
Prior to its debut, the new Urus Performante showcased its additional performance tweaks with an impressive run up legendary Pike’s Peak in Colorado. The updated Super SUV set a new record for the production SUV category by completing the International Hill Climb Road in a record time of 10:32.065. This beat the previous record of 10:49 set by the Bentley Bentayga in 2018.
Coming Soon
The new Lamborghini Urus Performante will arrive before the end of this year with a starting price of $260,676.
