When looking for a performance vehicle two things have changed. Owning a performance vehicle no longer takes a lot of time and a lot of money. Hyundai has re-written the math book with their N brand and like Mercedes AMG or BMW M cars. The “N” vehicles are the top performers in the lineup. like a geek I dressed the part and took to the track and let the legs of the Elantra N stretch
The Elantra N starts at just over $32k and gets 31 mpg on the highway with a stellar 276 hp. The red stripe on the outside is a nice touch and some unique design elements inside and out give it distinct features but the performance also makes it a super good buy. Since Hyundai has good chip access they have had less interruption to production than many other brands. this means vehicles are more readily available on dealer lots
Hyundai didn’t just stop at the N, there is also a Veloster N, it’s the company performance SUV with 275 hp that starts at just over $32k and gets the same good looks. Getting up to 28 mpg on the highway with a standard 275 hp on 19-inch wheels. It’s a great looking and strong design, this little rocket is perfect as a metropolitan weekday driver and a weekend canyon carver. Better yet the Kona N gives you all the performance of a sports car but the room and versatility of a family hauler. On paper and on the track the best performance cars for the money in America.
