Off-Road Updates
Late last year the Dearborn-based automaker rolled out its first entry-level unibody pickup truck. The Ford Maverick has impressive utility as well as efficiency — the truck became an instant hit and has been in hot demand ever since. Now the Blue Oval expands the Maverick lineup with an eye toward those wanting to take the truck on more adventurous journeys. The 2023 Ford Maverick Tremor will be the latest Ford truck offered with this exclusive off-road package, adding impressive capability to this little pickup.
Joining the Family
“Ranger, F-150 and Super Duty customers have embraced the unique off-road capability, technology and appearance updates found across our Tremor family of trucks,” said Todd Eckert, Ford truck product marketing and brand manager. “Maverick Tremor delivers on this same promise with new functions and features designed for off-roading — all while keeping the truck’s signature size, affordability, and Built Ford Tough durability and capability,” Eckert observed.
Power and Performance
All Maverick Tremors will be powered by Ford’s 2.0-liter EcoBoost gas engine producing 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. The EcoBoost engine gets teamed with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Tremor can tow up to 2,000 pounds or haul 1,200 pounds of cargo in the bed — enough to take a few toys out into the wilderness.
New AWD System
As part of the Tremor Off-Road Package, the Maverick gets a new all-wheel-drive system that includes a twin-clutch rear-drive unit featuring a differential lock. The new system can direct rear-axle torque to either wheel independently for maximum traction. Maverick Tremor features five drive modes that set up the vehicle for different driving conditions: Mud, Sand. Snow, Pavement and Towing.
Trail Control
Engineers added even more off-road capability to the Ford Maverick Tremor via Trail Control. Maverick Tremor will have this feature as standard equipment, which operates like an off-road cruise control. The driver can set a speed and the system manages throttle and brakes to maintain the chosen speed while traversing mud, rocks or dirt.
Improved Capability
The Maverick Tremor sits about one inch higher than the standard Maverick, giving the small off-road truck 9.4 inches of ground clearance. In addition, the front and rear springs and shocks have been updated for improved off-road prowess. A heavy-duty transmission cooler and upgraded half-shafts are also included. A new lower front fascia allows for a more aggressive approach angle, along with steel skidplates for increased protection beneath the vehicle.
Tremor Styling
The new Ford Maverick Tremor will easily stand out from the standard model via a unique grille finish as well as blacked-out Ford logos, headlights and taillights. The truck get further differentiation from signature Tremor Orange tow hooks and orange highlights in the grille. An available Tremor Appearance Package adds Carbonized Gray paint on the roof and mirror caps, as well as black graphics on the hood and lower body.
Nice Wheels
Unique 17-inch aluminum wheels get a new Tremor Orange and dark gray anodized finish. The Tremor-specific wheels are fitted with all-terrain tires for improved off-road traction.
Bold Interior
Inside the Maverick Tremor, the bold theme continues with Black Onyx seats trimmed in signature Tremor Orange accents and Tremor logos. The new color scheme carries through to the center console, vents and door pulls.
Coming This Fall
Ford will offer the Tremor Off-Road Package on the 2023 Ford Maverick XLT and Lariat trim levels at a retail price of $2,995 and the Tremor Appearance Package priced at $1,495. The truck may be ordered starting in September, with production slated to begin this fall.
