Ford Debuts Next Focus and New Performance Model

Ford pulled the wraps off the next-generation Focus at the recent Paris auto show, revealing three body styles and a unique ST performance version.

The three body styles include a sporty five-door, elegant four-door and stylish wagon as the elements of the new global C segment platform.? Ford says 80 percent of the parts on each model will be common worldwide, and expects the new C platform to underpin at least ten different models around the world.? About two million units annually are expected to be built on the C Platform annually.

The new range-topping Focus ST is powered by a new 247-hp version of the new 2.0-liter, four-cylinder Ford EcoBoost turbocharged engine.? According to Ford, the ST promises ?driving enthusiasts an intoxicating cocktail of exhilarating performance and handling accompanied by an addictive sound.?

The Focus is Ford’s most significant car range globally.? It was developed at Ford’s Global Centre of Excellence for Small Cars in Germany and will be sold in over 120 markets worldwide.

The new Focus goes on sale in Europe and North America early in 2011, and the ST performance model launches early in 2012.
