Checkout the Audi A3 Notchback Sedan Concept

Audi is showing what the A3 notchback sedan might look like.?? The four-seater concept is also a showplace for the latest versions of the company?s technologies including the improved MMI operating system, a new high-tech infotainment system and enhanced drivetrain.

The concept is powered by a five-cylinder turbocharged engine rated at 408 horsepower driving all four wheels (quattro) through the newest version of the seven-speed S tronic transmission.

The Audi A3 is small size measuring 14.57 ft. long, 6.04 ft. wide and 4.56 ft. high making about the same size as the BMW 1 Series, Subaru Impreza or Volkswagen EOS.

The design is typical Audi — sporty elegance. ?The headlights represent a new stage of evolution in LED technology. They become broader as they extend outward, and a line underneath them makes them seem to float on air.

The A3 concept looks like an Audi from the side too, with harmonious proportions, taut, muscular surfaces and a low roof dome with fluid lines flowing into a flat, coup?-like C-pillar. ?The door handles on the concept are brushed-aluminum and are recessed flush with the door. When the driver touches them, they power-extend.

The flat tail lights are sculptured and culminate in a point on the inside, and the tailgate bears an elegant spoiler edge. The rear apron includes a carbon fiber and metal diffuser insert which surrounds the two large tailpipes for the exhaust system.

The control panel for the MMI multimedia system is located on the center tunnel console and includes its large rotary pushbutton and the new touch pad, MMI touch, introduced recently on the new A8. The ultra-thin MMI monitor power-extends out of the instrument panel.

The Audi A3 concept has full access to the Internet, allowing the car to retrieve convenient services from Google. ?In addition the system is a WLAN hotspot providing Internet connections for passengers.? The backrests include storage spots for iPads.

The Audi A3 concept has 14.5 cubic feet of cargo space.

The A3 concept is powered by a 408-hp, 2.5-liter, five-cylinder turbocharged engine with FSI gasoline direction injection. This engine drives the concept to a 0 to 62 mph time of 4.1 seconds, with a top speed limited to 155 mph.?? Fuel economy is projected at nearly 26 mpg.? The seven-speed transmission is a double clutch system with wheel-mounted shift paddles.

The concept chassis is derived from the current RS 3 Sportback.? It has a driver selectable dynamic handling system gives the driver five modes from which to select the engine characteristics, power steering and the seven-speed S?tronic. The modes are comfort, auto, dynamic, individual and efficiency, the last of which is designed for maximum economy.

The A3 sedan is expected to arrive in the U.S. in 2012, with other engine options possibly including a four-cylinder diesel.
