ARE YOU SPEEDING?

With less traffic on the roads, I am sure you have noticed more people taking bigger risks and speeding while driving.  During the stay at home orders, we have all noticed the many quitter roads, but when the traffics away, some have taken this opportunity to do a little speeding. In a recent carinsurance.com survey, 28% of drivers have recently seen an uptick in speeding. Drivers say they have seen more speeding lately than usual.

2020 Infiniti Q50 Red Sport AWD

Before COVID 19 around 41 million speeding tickets were issued in 2019, that’s 125,000 a day. I have been testing driving the new 2020 Infiniti Q50 Red Sport AWD.  It looks like a family sedan.  But with 400 horsepower and a 0 to 60 mile an hour time of 4.5 seconds, this is not hard to get a speeding ticket in.

New for 2020, the Infiniti Q50 has an all-new InTouch twin-screen infotainment system that has improved graphics as well as Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Designed to allow drivers to keep their eyes on the road.

With almost 40% lighter traffic at times. Some roadways have been treated like raceway for “in a hurry drivers.”  But if you do get pulled over, do you tell the truth about why you were speeding?  The answer is always “Yes,” but about 1/3 of people say they lied to police.

What are the top Excuses?

#3 they had to use the bathroom

#2 they said they are late for work

#1 32% of those surveyed said they did not know there were speeding.

Who are the biggest speeders?  Men or women?

Be careful if you get caught and convicted of speeding. Not only will you face a fine of several hundred dollars, but drivers caught speeding pay, on average, 34% higher insurance rates in some states. That little speeding trip could cost you $1000s of dollars in total

What is the best way to avoid a speeding ticket?  Well, the obvious answer, do not speed.  But if you accidentally speed 41% of drivers surveyed requested a warning and did not offer an excuse, guess what? They got the warning.  It might be better to ask for forgiveness.
