Slip a big V-8 engine in to a compact coupe and you have the makings of an awesome sports coupe.? When the engine is the Mercedes-Benz AMG 6.3-liter V-8 and the car is the C-Class coupe the edge becomes even sharper and the car becomes world class.
At 510 horsepower, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe?Black Series?is the most powerful C-Class of all time and is expected to make a 0 to 60 mph run in under four seconds. ?The engine is backed by the high-performance AMG Speedshift MCT-7 transmission driving the rear wheels. The transmission has four modes, the rev-matching function and RACE START deliver maximum driving fun and a high degree of versatility. In the “Sport plus” and “Manual” modes gearshift takes a mere 100 milliseconds.
The body is low, wide and muscular-looking.? It?s underpinned with an adjustable AMG coil-over sports suspension and AMG high-performance composite (two-piece) brakes. It even gets better with the optional AMG Track package of ultra-high-performance tires, active cooling for the rear axle drive unit and the AMG Aerodynamics package with adjustable carbon-fiber rear spoiler.
From the first glance, it is clear that the C63 AMG Coupe?Black Series is made for spirited driving on a closed track. Visually reminiscent of the SLS AMG GT3 customer racecar, this latest C63 AMG is virtually a racecar in street clothing.
“AMG has its roots in international motorsport. The new C63 AMG Coupe?Black Series?showcases the ongoing transfer of technology from the racetrack to the road. Great success in the DTM, the customer sport program featuring the SLS AMG GT3 and our commitment to Formula 1, where we have been providing the Official F1? Safety Car and the Official F1? Medical Car for the past 15 years, are an ongoing source of inspiration for our engineers and technicians. The C63 AMG Coupe?Black Series embodies the new AMG brand claim, Driving Performance, like no other AMG model”, comments Ola K?llenius, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
The interior is finished in black with red accents displaying a high quality, functional racecar atmosphere. Two AMG sport seats provide the maximum lateral support and optimum vehicle control on the racetrack. The black DINAMICA microfiber upholstery on the seat center panels is a new type of synthetic fiber characterized by its high fade resistance. ?In standard form the C63 has no rear seat to help keep the weight down, but two individual rear seats are an option.
The AMG performance steering wheel in Nappa leather/DINAMICA microfiber has a rim flattened top and bottom.? The wheel has aluminum shift paddles for manual gear shifting.? Transmission modes are selected by a console-mounted rotary control.
he C63 AMG Coupe?Black Series?has outstanding dynamics along with excellent active and passive safety equipment.
