Run to the Sun — Chevrolet Corvette GS Convertible

NWAPA

Imagine driving a very cool new car for a distance between 9 to 25 miles, getting out and then into another very cool car for another 9 to 25 mile leg and then repeating the same routine through 23 cars in a two day period.

NWAPA

Welcome to the 2010 NWAPA (Northwest Automotive Press Association) Run to the Sun held recently in western Washington.? After 23 cars and more than 450 miles of smiles, here are our quick impressions of the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Convertible.

Still America?s Sports Car, the Corvette line has expanded to four variations (six if you count the convertibles).? The slowest of the bunch, both the base coupe and convertible, turn a sizzling 4.2-second 0 to 60 mph time.? Prices start as low as $48,950 for the coupe.? Chevrolet expanded the line a couple years ago with the addition of the ZR1 with a thumping 638-hp, supercharged V-8 engine. ?Even with all that power, it is only a little faster than the base model making the 0 to 60 mph run time at 3.4 seconds.? The ZR1 is priced at $111,100, which is actually a bargain for a car equipped with such state of the art performance technology.? Our ?Run? car, the Grand Sport Convertible is the latest addition and fits in the middle of the Corvette lineup.? Priced at $58,600 for the convertible with automatic transmission, the GS accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.95 seconds, handles like a Corvette and stops better than almost anything you can buy.? The Corvette is an amazing performance value.
