2024 Buick Encore GX Gets Premium Updates

The Encore GX is the most popular model in the Buick lineup, and for 2024 the premium crossover will be receiving a significant makeover. In addition to updated styling and a host of new high-tech features, the 2024 Buick Encore GX gets a new Avenir trim. Offered across the lineup, Avenir is the highest level of luxury that Buick offers.

With styling influenced by the Wildcat EV concept, the 2024 Buick Encore GX gets a sleek, modern look with a forward-leaning front end highlighted by an updated grille and new signature winged LED running lights. Centered above the grille is Buick’s new tri-shield logo. “The new Encore GX delivers a sleek, sporty, sophisticated presence,” said Director of Global Buick Design Bob Boniface. “It’s inherently functional, yet the new exterior design creates a more stylish and modern persona that is unique in today’s small SUV segment,” Boniface noted.

At the rear of the 2024 Buick Encore GX are stylish LED taillights with the new logo at the center of the rear hatch. BUICK is spelled out in large letters to complete the premium look. The ST trim possesses a sportier presence with high-gloss black bumpers and an available Black Roof package.

The 2024 Buick Encore GX is the first model to adopt the brand’s new Virtual Cockpit System. The VCS features an 11-inch infotainment display and an 8-inch driver display, both presented under a single glass pane. The full 19 inches of display angle toward the driver for easier access. The infotainment system features a new layout with a customizable home screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on all trim levels.

“The Encore GX is the first Buick in North America to sport our revamped interior and new Virtual Cockpit System,” said Boniface. “It’s rare to get such an elevated, tech-forward interior in a vehicle at this starting price. We wanted to uplift every aspect of the Encore GX and put the entire small SUV segment on notice,” he observed.

Throughout the Encore GX interior are soft-touch materials and contrasting stitching for a premium vibe. The ST gets a flat-bottom steering wheel to emphasize its sportier nature. The cabin benefits from Buick’s QuietTuning system, which keeps the interior quiet and comfortable.

As the top-level trim of the Encore GX, the Avenir stands out thanks to a unique grille, clear lens LED taillights, chrome exterior accents and 19-inch wheels specific to the Avenir. Inside, the Avenir gets an exclusive Whisper Beige and Jet Black interior theme with leather seats, a heated steering wheel and embroidered Avenir head restraints.

Powering the 2024 Buick Encore GX is a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine that produces 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. A larger 1.3-liter engine is also available, producing 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. A continuously variable transmission is standard on front-wheel-drive trims, while those equipped with AWD get a 9-speed automatic transmission.

All Buick Encore GX trims come with the Buick Driver Confidence package. This package includes advanced driver-assist features including automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist and lane departure warning. Lane change alert, adaptive cruise control and a rear camera mirror are also available.

The 2024 Buick Encore GX moves into production shortly, with deliveries starting later this spring. Pricing starts at $26,895 for the Encore GX Preferred, while the Sport Touring starts at $28,095. The top-level Avenir has a starting price of $33,195.
