2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV Premiere Redline
“An Efficient and Affordable All-Electric Hatchback”

American auto consumers seem to be attracted to SUVs, so to take advantage of that, the Bowtie team took the underpinnings of the basic Bolt EV hatchback and wrapped the EUV in a skin that appears more SUV-like. The EUV is an all-electric four door hatch that seats five. The Bolt in any of its trims is not designed for off-road adventures – nor are its same class EV competitors, but the top level Premiere model beats out most of the competition in the technology department, especially when equipped with the Gemneral’s Super Cruise hands-free driving feature.
NEW FOR 2023
The latest Bolt EUV gets a new Redline Edition Package that’s available for either LT or Premiere trim models. The Redline Edition essentially changes the EUV’s chrome exterior trim for gloss black trim with red stripe wheels. Entry prices for both the EV and EUV Bolts are reduced by $6,300.
GENERIC BUT PLEASING EXTERIOR STYLING:
The design form of the 2023 Bolt leans to the futuristic side of the equation with a floating roofline and short front and rear overhangs. The nose is blunt with no grill and the rear is equally blunt but broken up by stylish cladding.
INTERIOR COMFORT AND AMBIENCE:
The Bolt’s cabin features a simplistic and balanced as well as functionally user-friendly instrument panel with controls and switchgear that are relatively intuitive. Seating is comfortable and space is surprisingly abundant. The EUV models are longer, wider and taller than the hatchback vehicles. Rear seat legroom serves up an additional three inches.
All bolt models draw their motive force from the same 200 horsepower single
front-wheel drive AC 65.0 kWh Permanent magnet electric motor and single
gearset. The Lithium-ion battery pack is liquid cooled with an 11.5kW Onboard
charger. The Bolt EUV has an EPA mileage rating of 115 MPGe – 125 city – 104
Hiway- and 29KW hours per 100 miles. The Range is 247 miles. It may be
charged on a standard 120 volt household outlet but quicker charging at home is
best with a 240 volt setup. DC charging is also available with up to 95 miles of
range in only 30 minutes.
INFORTAINMENT AND CONNECTIVITY:
A 10.2-inch infotainment touch screen is digital and provides integrated climate
controls as standard fare. Several connectivity features are available, including
Android Auto, Amazon’s Alexa, Apple CarPlay and an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot.
There’s also an app for smartphones that can provide nearby charging network
connections as well as charging alerts.
A host of Safety and Drover Assistance Features are available.
My test 2023 Bolt EUV was a Premier model with a Sun and Sound Package, the Super Cruise Package and the Redline Appearance Package. The exterior wore a finish of Silver Flare metallic and the leather appointed interior was done in Black. The base price was set at $31,700. While options and the Delivery charge elevated the final total to $37,885.
The Chevy Bolt EUV delivers instantaneous acceleration capable of scooting from 0-60 mph in 6.8 seconds and regenerative braking enables one-pedal driving which is both entertaining and efficient, modulating the car’s forward motion with only the accelerator, using the traditional foot brake only for emergency stops. Handling characteristics are on the sporty side and the ride quality is comfortable.
OUR FINAL TAKE:
For those looking for an affordable and efficient SUV-like hatchback that’s economical and fun to drive, the Chevy Bolt EUV is a worthy candidate, and it come with an attractive warranty and maintenance coverage. Electric components are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles and the powertrain warranty is for five years or 60,000 miles.
