Porsche introduced an all-new Macan for the 2019 model year; however, the high-performance crossover was only available in Base or S trim levels — the Macan Turbo wasn’t part of the lineup. For 2020 Porsche brings back the Macan Turbo, and it is quicker and more powerful than the previous-generation Turbo.

The 2020 Porsche Macan Turbo gets a new 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 that produces 434 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. Although engine displacement shrinks compared to the 3.6-liter V6 of the last Macan Turbo, power output is up 34 horsepower over that larger engine. The powerful V6 is teamed with a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox.

Thanks to peak torque available from a low 1800 rpm and the traction of full-time all-wheel drive, the new Macan Turbo can sprint to 60 mph in a mere 4.3 seconds. When equipped with the Sport Chrono package, the Turbo’s number drops to 4.1 seconds. Both these figures are .3 seconds quicker than the previous variant. Top track speed is now 167 mph.

Let’s face it: For those who buy a Macan Turbo, they want people to know they possess something special (the least of which being good credit), so Porsche gives this top-level trim standout styling with an exclusive front fascia with three large air intakes, LED fog lights, LED headlights, side skirts and Sport Design exterior mirrors. A new rear roof spoiler and 20-inch Macan Turbo wheels complete the look.

Porsche has also equipped the new Macan Turbo with a range of high-performance features that include Porsche Surface Coated Brakes. With rotors coated in an ultra-hard layer of tungsten carbide, brake dust gets significantly reduced while stopping power improves. Eventually the rotors develop a mirrorlike finish, and these special brakes have some visual pop against the Turbo’s white brake calipers. A sport exhaust system is also standard, as well as Porsche Active Suspension Management. Macan Turbo can also be equipped with height-adjustable air suspension, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes.

Positioned at the top-level trim of the Macan lineup, the new Turbo gets a premium interior with 18-way Adaptive Sport Seats, an Alcantara headliner, a 10.9-inch HD touchscreen display, a Wi-Fi hotspot and a 665-watt 14-speaker Bose sound system. A multi-function GT Sport steering wheel is optional, as is wireless phone charging.
