Ford GT Carbon Series
Today in Las Vegas at the 2018 Specialty Equipment Market Association vehicle aftermarket trade show, Ford unveiled the newest addition to its “halo car” GT lineup. The Ford GT Carbon Series sheds 40 pounds from the current production model, making it the lightest of the street-legal Ford GTs. The Carbon Series drops weight by adding carbon fiber wheels, a titanium exhaust, titanium lug nuts and a polycarbonate rear hatch with additional venting.
Exposed Carbon Fiber
The Ford GT Carbon Series includes more exposed carbon fiber than any previous model, starting with dual carbon fiber stripes. The A-pillars, lower body panels and wheels also are finished in carbon fiber. Inside, the door sills, air vent pods and center console have a matte carbon fiber finish.
Accent Colors
In addition to the exposed carbon fiber, the Ford GT Carbon Series offers four accent colors for the mirror caps, center stripe between the dual carbon fiber stripes and brake calipers. Available accent colors are silver, orange, red or blue. The Carbon Series also includes unique seat stitching in silver, silver steering wheel stitching, clear anodized paddle shifters and an instrument panel badge.
Convenience Features
Although the previous Ford GT Competition removed the air-conditioning and radio for weight savings, the Ford GT Carbon Series includes air-conditioning and the radio — as well as SYNC 3 — for more comfort and convenience on the drive to and from the track.
