2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost – Friendlier Than Casper

Legendary luxury car maker Rolls-Royce has burst onto the performance luxury scene with the new 2010 Ghost. Powered by a new twin turbo 6.6-litre V12 engine, the Ghost is virtually silent going down the road. The engine makes 563 horsepower and 575 pound-feet of torque, and being a Rolls, all that power is virtually silent going down the road. The Ghost comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it accelerates from 0-62 mph in just 4.9 seconds. The Ghost has a governed top-speed of 155 mph.

With that kind of performance under the hood, you might expect the Ghost to be a gas-guzzler, but it?s not. City mileage is 13.8 miles per imperial gallon, and on the highway, the Ghost gets an incredible 29.4 miles per gallon.

Each Rolls-Royce Ghost is hand-built to order, so you can choose the finishing touches to make it uniquely yours. You can have your choice of outside color, with color-matched leather upholstery, wood veneer and painted wheels.

You might think of a Rolls as a classic car, but the Ghost is completely up to date with state of the art driver assistance technology. The Ghost comes with an optional Night Vision System that hides behind a veneered panel during daylight hours. As darkness falls, an infrared camera can detect the body heat of pedestrians up to 300 yards ahead and alert the driver to their presence.

The Ghost also has an optional Heads Up Display, which projects driving-related information such as speed, navigation directions, and status information directly on to the windscreen in front of you,?allowing you to concentrate on the road ahead.

Rolls-Royce also offers lane departure warnings and active cruise control on the Ghost. You can set the cruise to maintain a set distance from the car in front of you, reducing speed to a complete stop if necessary. Once the traffic begins to move again, Ghost accelerates to the pre-programmed speed as soon as possible.

The 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost has a base price of $245,000, but it?ll cost you $300,000 if you order your Ghost optioned up the way you want it. In the world of luxury supercars, that?s a bargain for everything you get.
